João Kehl começou a fotografar aos 17 anos de idade, formando-se Bacharel em fotografia pelo SENAC em 2005.
De 2003 a 2013 foi integrante do coletivo CIA DE FOTO.
Durante os dez anos de existência do coletivo, desenvolveram trabalhos comerciais e autorais de forte impacto no mercado brasileiro e internacional. Participaram de exposições e festivais em diversos países e colaboraram para o rompimento de algumas barreiras conceituais
e de ordem prática no universo da fotografia.
Em 2006 ganhou prêmio do World Press Photo na categoria reportagem esportiva com a série sobre boxeadores
que ocupavam o Viaduto do Café no centro de São Paulo.
De 2014 até 2018 atuou no mercado publicitário ao lado do também fotógrafo Rafael Jacinto.
Hoje é fotógrafo e diretor de cena.

João Kehl started to take pictures at the age of 17 and graduated from Photography School in 2005.
From 2003 to 2013 he took part in a photography collective called CIA DE FOTO.
During the 10 year life spam, the group gained international prestige showing their work all over the world in exhibitions and photo festivals and had a major impact on the discussions regarding authorship and the ever expanding boundaries of the photographic medium.
In 2006 he earned a World Press Photo award in the Sports Stories category, with the series about a boxing gym under a bridge in Sao Paulo.
From 2014 to 2018 he worked with fellow photographer Rafael Jacinto as a duo mainly for commercial and advertising purposes.
Now he works alone as a photographer and film director.
